Now that the Friends of St Mary’s Church Chilham is a registered charity (No. 1205716), we are able to take advantage of a wider range of fundraising opportunities. One of these is easyfundraising — the UK’s biggest charity shopping site — and we are delighted to announce that we have signed up.
It is a wonderfully simple way to raise money for our beautiful ancient church, and it won’t cost you a single penny. Some of our members are already using it with great success, and we would love more of you to join them.
How Does It Work?
Whenever you shop online — whether it's your weekly groceries, a new pair of shoes, booking a holiday, or renewing your insurance — you can raise a free donation for Friends of St Mary's Church Chilham at the same time. Over 8,000 well-known retailers are part of the scheme, including Amazon, John Lewis, M&S, Argos, Booking.com, eBay, Tesco, and many more.
The retailers pay easyfundraising a small commission when you shop through their website or app. That commission is then donated to us. You pay the same price you would normally — the retailer covers the donation cost entirely
How Much Can We Raise?
An average online shopper can easily raise over £100 a year. Some donations are a percentage of what you spend — for example, 3% from Booking.com on a £150 hotel stay would generate a £4.50 donation. Others pay a flat amount — buying car insurance through Confused.com via easyfundraising would donate £15 to us regardless of the policy cost.
Every donation, however small, adds up. The more of us who sign up, the more we can raise to help conserve, maintain, and improve the fabric of St Mary's for future generations.
How Do I Sign Up?
It takes less than two minutes, and there are three easy ways to get started:
Visit our cause page — Go to easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/friends-of-st-marys-church-chilham and click "Support this cause." Create a free account, and you are ready to go.
Download the app — The easyfundraising app is available on both iOS and Android. Simply download it, search for "Friends of St Mary's Church Chilham," and select us as your cause.
Install the Donation Reminder — Add the easyfundraising browser extension to Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox. It will pop up automatically whenever you visit a retailer's website that offers a donation, so you never forget.
When Do We Receive the Funds?
Easyfundraising tallies all donations raised by our supporters every 3 months and pays them directly into our account. Payments are made in February, May, August, and November each year.
